CHICAGO — The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the three victims who died in a quadruple shooting while they were standing on the street early Sunday morning on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

Ricky Vera, a 50-year-old man, Mario Pozuelos, a 26-year-old man, and Mercedes Tavares, a 24-year-old woman, were identified as the three deceased victims, according to the Cook County ME.

Police said around 2:30 a.m. near North Central Avenue and West School Street, a man fired shots at a group of people and then left the scene in a dark-colored SUV, according to information from the Chicago Police Department.

During a press conference Sunday morning, Cmdr. Joseph Brennan said there was a fight inside the bar before the shooting in the street.

On top of the three people who died, a 25-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head and is in critical condition, police said.

The identity of the woman in critical condition has not been released.

No one is in custody and the incident is still under investigation by Area 5 detectives.

While detectives are still in the early stages of their investigation, Brennan said they believe only one suspect was involved.
