Beaches to Visit During a Tanzania Safari

With over 800km of coastline as well as a number of tropical islands, you will be spoilt for choice when looking for an unspoilt beach. Tanzania has a tropical climate and you will find temperatures to be between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius almost all year round. However, you may want to avoid the rainy season which is between March and April. The best part of the coast to visit is in the Saadani National Park which is four hours north of Dar es Salaam. During a stay in a safari lodge in Saadani you will be living right amongst the locals and it is a fantastic opportunity to discover how warm and friendly the Tanzanian people are. You can also sample the Tanzanian seafood including the famous prawns which can be up to foot long.

Spice Island adventures on a Tanzania Safari

You may not have time but if you do then you would be well advised to make the trip over to Zanzibar as part of your Tanzania Safari. It consists of numerous small islands as well as two large islands Unguja, which is the main island, and Pemba. Zanzibar and Mafia Island (another island off Tanzania) are known as the Spice Islands because they produce nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and pepper. One of the main things to do during a Tanzania Safari to Zanzibar is to go diving as it has some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world just off the coast. There is great visibility as well as average water temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. Apart from enjoying the crystal clear water, you can also visit Stone Town which is the old city of Zanzibar. It is filled with stunning mosques, great Arab houses and thriving markets.
